Bones and Coins Blessings
Five slots per hero in the full game. Spend them after the party exists.
Blessings are how Bones and Coins parties stop being clones of each other. The January 2026 playtest gave players two blessing slots on top of the Shaman’s built-in mark kit. Developer notes for the full game are louder: each hero has five unique blessing slots with many styles. Demo v0.8.0 added the Wizard and three new blessings. Expeditions in the 7 September 2026 release are the other full-game layer that expects a blessed party, not a naked Barbarian.
This page is a spending rulebook. It will not invent a complete blessing database Troyd Games has not published. Named mechanics we do have — marks, extra arrows, on-kill scaling — already tell you what a blessing is for.
Where blessings live
Open Guild in town (the same bar as Skill Tree, Blacksmith, Inventory, Expeditions). Hire a hero first. Empty slots cannot be blessed. Party building is the prerequisite, not a side quest. If you are still unlocking the first party node on the skill tree, close this tab.
Playtest copy said the two extra slots were “in addition to the Shaman’s mechanics.” Read that as: Shaman already is a blessing engine, and you still get generic slots. Full-release five-slot heroes can mix styles. That is the “endless combos” line on the Steam page, not a promise that every sticker is worth rare currency.
What a blessing should do
Score a blessing against the job of the body wearing it.
- Barbarian. Durability, on-hit, on-kill, anything that keeps him in the pile. A ranged-proc blessing on a melee tank is usually a miss.
- Bowman / Archer. Extra projectiles, execute, first-hit damage. He already rolls extra arrows every third attack in demo callouts; stack that identity instead of turning him into a fake tank.
- Shaman. Mark uptime, mark power, aura size. The 50% next-hit multiplier is the reason he is in the hero tier list conversation at all.
- Wizard. Unknown kit plus three blessings that shipped with him. Try caster identity first (area, lightning, chill). If a blessing reads like a Bowman card, put it on the Bowman.
If a blessing only adds a number you already buy cheaper on the tree (tiny weapon area, tiny coin value), skip it. Tree nodes are permanent and global. Blessings are per hero. Do not pay Guild prices for a spawn-count sticker.
Two slots versus five
Two-slot playtest builds were experiments: one offensive, one defensive, or both offensive on the carry. Five slots will tempt you to fill every hole the moment it opens. Don’t. Fill:
- The slot that completes the kit (mark power on Shaman, survive on Barbarian).
- The slot that fixes a room problem (execute if dungeon rooms started sprouting tanky shield-bearers).
- The slot that enables an Expedition modifier once you know what Expeditions tax.
Slots four and five can wait until rare currency is not also needed for the next party slot or a unique weapon. Loot and economy is the other half of this sentence.
Expeditions and blessings
The August 2026 Steam announcement lists Expeditions as additional challenges and rewards, alongside the complete blessing system. No public modifier list shipped in that post. Expect Expeditions to ask for a finished five-slot identity rather than a fresh torch. If an Expedition wrecks you, the first question is “did I bless the tank?” not “do I need a seventh hero.”
Spending mistakes
- Blessing a hero you are about to bench.
- Putting the Wizard’s new cards on the Barbarian because the icon looked fiery.
- Filling five slots with income blessings that duplicate the tree.
- Ignoring Shaman marks because a blessing promised “more damage” in a less reliable way.
Bless after the core party of Barbarian + Shaman + Bowman exists. Then open the build tier list and the party planner so the five stickers match a real comp, not a screenshot. Patch notes that add cards will land on Updates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many blessing slots does each hero have?
Two extra slots in the January playtest (plus Shaman’s own kit). Five unique slots per hero in the full Steam game, per official notes.
When were new blessings added?
Demo v0.8.0 on 1 June 2026 added the Wizard and three new blessings. The full blessing system is called out again in the August 2026 release post.
Should I bless before recruiting a full party?
No. Hire the Barbarian, Shaman, and Bowman first. Blessings are per hero and waste rare currency on kits you might bench. See party building.
Do blessings replace the skill tree?
No. The skill tree is global and permanent. Blessings customise one body. Do not buy tree-duplicate stickers in the Guild.
