Hero Tier List

This Bones and Coins hero tier list is a launch-week read of public kits, not a pretend esports ladder. The Steam full release includes six recruitable heroes. Only four were named in playtest and demo notes: Shaman, Barbarian, Bowman (Archer in Next Fest text), and Wizard. The unnamed two are unranked on purpose. The moment a patch note names them, this page moves. Until then, do not download a fake S-tier paladin from a content farm.

Rankings assume a normal skill tree that already bought spawn count and a party slot, and a player following Getting Started. They also assume you are playing the 7 September 2026 Steam build, not the itch prototype.

S — Shaman

Mark nearby enemies. Marked targets take 50% more damage from the next hit. That next hit can be the torch or the Barbarian. No other revealed kit multiplies the whole room that cleanly. Playtest notes already framed Shaman as the support you experiment around, with two blessing slots sitting on top of the mark. In a loot game, a multiplier is worth more than another sword. Full-release five-slot blessings probably make him even louder.

Bench him only if a later unnamed hero is a strictly better marker. Until that text exists, Shaman is S.

A — Barbarian

High durability, strong frontline, first hire in almost every public run. He is the difference between an auto-battler and a cursor simulator. He does not beat Shaman on a list because he does not multiply other people; he enables them. If you only own one slot, he is still the hire. See party building.

On-kill scaling and “skilled sword” Guild talk show up in demo streams. Those are A-tier reasons to keep him in slot one even after Wizard exists.

A — Bowman / Archer

Consistent ranged DPS, execute below 50% HP, extra arrows, bonus damage to full-health targets. He is the pack cleaner that makes End Looting happen before the torch dies. He is not S because he wants a marked pile. Solo Bowman in a late dungeon room is a lot of kiting for a game that is supposed to print coins.

Name note: January notes say Bowman, February notes say Archer. One ranged kit until a roster screen shows two.

B — Wizard

Added 1 June 2026 with three new blessings. No official spell card in the patch blurb. That uncertainty is the rank. Casters in this genre either explode packs or overlap Bowman. Until players post a kit screenshot, Wizard is a fourth slot, not a first. If his kit is a second mark, he jumps. If his kit is a weaker Bowman, he stays B.

Unranked — full-release heroes five and six

Six heroes is an official count. Inventing names would fail this wiki’s own rules. Slot them by job when the Guild shows them: tank, mark, ranged, or specialist. Then compare to this list, not to a rumour mill.

How the list should be used

  • First slot: Barbarian, even though Shaman is S. You cannot mark a pack that walked onto your face.
  • Second slot: Shaman.
  • Third slot: Bowman.
  • Fourth slot: Wizard or an unnamed kit that fills a hole.

That order is also the party planner default. Weapons can reshuffle a body inside a tier — a bad slow swing on Barbarian does not make Shaman worse — which is why weapon tiers and build tiers are separate pages.

What would move a rank

A patch that nerfs mark to a small number. A sixth hero whose aura replaces Shaman. A Wizard kit that executes better than Bowman. Room modifiers in Expeditions that punish melee. Check Updates before you rewrite your Guild. For kit descriptions, stay on the hero roster.

This list will look conservative because it is. Launch week is when fake tiers spread. Bones and Coins is a four-to-five-hour optimized campaign with a lot of experiment space; your Shaman still wants to be in the party while you experiment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Who is S-tier in Bones and Coins?

Shaman, because the mark multiplies torch and melee damage. Barbarian and Bowman sit in A as the bodies that hold and clean packs.

Why is the first recruit not the S-tier hero?

You need a frontline before a multiplier. Hire Barbarian first, then Shaman. Party building explains the slot order.

Where are the other two heroes?

Official full-game count is six. Only four were named in playtest and demo notes. They stay unranked until Guild names exist.

Does this tier list include weapons?

No. Use the weapon tier list and the build tier list so a slow craft does not get blamed on the hero.
