Bones and Coins Expeditions
Extra challenges and rewards on top of the eight-room crawl — after the party exists.
Expeditions are the full-game layer Bones and Coins did not show in the January playtest. The 21 August 2026 Steam post lists them beside the complete blessing system: extra challenges and rewards on top of the eight dungeon rooms. The live HUD puts an Expeditions tab next to Skill Tree, Blacksmith, Guild, and Inventory. This page is how to treat that tab without inventing a modifier table Troyd Games has not published.
If you are still on your first Barbarian, close this and open Getting Started. Expeditions expect a party that already prints coins, not a torch and a prayer.
What official notes actually say
The launch box, repeated in the 7 September 2026 “out now” copy, is short:
- Expeditions offer additional challenges and rewards.
- They arrived after the demo, along with hero abilities, new playable heroes, the complete blessing system, new rooms, and a bigger skill tree.
- An optimized campaign is about four to five hours; experimenting with heroes, weapons, blessings, and Expeditions stretches that.
That is the entire public card. There is no official list of Expedition names, ticket costs, or weekly rotations in those posts. This wiki will not fill the gap with fake “Abyssal Weekend” events.
How Expeditions sit next to rooms
A dungeon room is a save file for pack density. You train its XP bar, buy spawn count, and End Looting when the island is empty. Expeditions are the pressure layer on top: extra challenge, extra reward, same town. Kemal’s January thread also sketched a locked tree branch that would send heroes on automatic looting sessions — less rewarding than playing, heading toward 30–45 second late-game windows. Treat that idle branch as a supplement, not as Expeditions themselves, until a tooltip uses both words on one node.
Practical split:
- Rooms print the common purse and exclusive enemy drops. See loot and economy.
- Guild hires and blesses the bodies that survive a harder modifier. See party building.
- Expeditions spend a finished identity on a challenge the eight-room crawl does not ask yet.
If an Expedition wrecks you, the first question is “did I bless the tank?” not “do I need a seventh hero.”
When to open the tab
A clean unlock checklist:
- Spawn count and coin value are bought. The skill tree trunk exists.
- Barbarian, Shaman, and Bowman are on the floor. The party planner default row is filled.
- The current room’s XP bar moves and End Looting happens because the pack is gone.
- At least the first two blessing slots on the tank and the mark are filled.
- Inventory is not full of unidentified exclusives you were about to vendor.
Then click Expeditions. If the entry cost is a rare pile, do not pay it with copper you still need for the next party slot. If the entry is free, run one attempt and compare coins-per-torch to your trained room. Keep the Expedition only if the floor dies faster or the drop table is clearly better.
Party for a harder modifier
Public kits do not change because a tab appeared:
- Barbarian holds the pile when a modifier fattens skeletons.
- Shaman multiplies the next hit — more valuable when packs live longer.
- Bowman executes leftovers so the torch does not expire on stragglers.
- Wizard is still slot four until his unpublished kit proves it is a second mark or better area damage.
Do not rebuild the hero tier list around an Expedition you have not seen. Log the modifier in your own notes. When official text names it, this page gets a row.
Rewards without a loot table
Until a patch lists Expedition drops, assume they feed the same sinks as rooms: coins, bones, items for the Blacksmith, maybe blessing fodder. Exclusive enemy parts still come from the nine unique enemies on the eight-room crawl. Do not skip room XP to “main” Expeditions on day one.

Launch contents and the 25% discount live on the launch notes page. Demo systems that still explain room caps are on Demo Patch Notes. If the HUD tab is greyed out, you are missing a tree node or a Guild hire — the how to play HUD map shows where Expeditions sit on the bar.
Play the live Steam copy. Treat Expeditions as the late-game spice, not as the campaign.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
When were Expeditions added to Bones and Coins?
They are a full-game system called out in the 21 August 2026 Steam post and the 7 September 2026 launch copy. The demo did not ship the complete layer.
Should I start Expeditions in the first hour?
No. Train a dungeon room, hire Barbarian plus Shaman plus Bowman, then open the tab. See Getting Started.
Do Expeditions replace dungeon rooms?
No. Rooms still print density, room XP, and exclusive enemy drops. Expeditions are extra challenge and reward on top.
Where is the Expedition list?
Not in public patch notes. This wiki will not invent names. Check Updates when Troyd Games publishes a table.
