Bones and Coins Blacksmith
Sixteen weapons, exclusive enemy parts, and when to forge instead of vendor.
The Blacksmith is how Bones and Coins turns skeleton parts into swings. The Steam full release lists sixteen weapons, each with its own attack animation. The town bar puts Blacksmith between Skill Tree and Guild. This page is the forge manual. Rankings of those crafts live on the weapon tier list. Drop rules live on loot and economy.
Unlock the tab before you stare at it
Early playtest and demo footage gate useful forging behind skill tree leaves: item drop chance (about 2.5% in demo talk) and sometimes a Blacksmith unlock node. Without drops, the tab is a blank shop. Buy spawn count and coin value first, then item chance, then walk into Blacksmith. Getting Started is the buy order; this page assumes that trunk exists.
Prototype clips showed an early dagger around 25 weapon damage, 0.05 attack duration, and 0.01 crit. Those numbers will have moved by the 7 September 2026 launch. The lesson did not: the first craft is a stepping stone, not a reason to stall the Guild hire.
What “unique attack animation” actually means
Official copy repeats that every weapon has its own animation. Unique is flavour and timing, not a hidden rarity colour. A slow, pretty two-hander on the Barbarian can still be correct because he stands in the pile. The same swing on the Bowman is a miss — he already rolls extra arrows in demo callouts and wants projectile identity.
Match the craft to the body:
- Barbarian. Fast melee, on-hit, anything that keeps him in the pack. Guild talk of a “skilled sword” belongs here.
- Bowman / Archer. Bows and extra-projectile weapons. Execute and full-health bonus already live on the kit; feed that, do not turn him into a fake tank.
- Shaman. Whatever shortens or spreads marks. A 50% next-hit multiplier is wasted on a slow staff that never tags the pile.
- Wizard. Unknown kit as of demo v0.8.0. Try caster identity first. If a craft reads like a Bowman card, put it on the Bowman.
The torch you hover is not a Blacksmith slot in public footage. Weapon-area tree nodes mostly talk to your cursor circle. Confirm the tooltip before you spend silver on a 5% area leaf because the Barbarian’s sword looks small. How to Play covers that mix-up.
Exclusive drops versus junk
Nine unique enemies each drop exclusive items. That sentence is why you do not vendor every white part the moment Inventory opens. Exclusive parts are how later weapons exist. Common drops can be forged immediately or sold to fund spawn count. If you cannot identify a drop yet, park it.
Decision tree:
- Common part, raises damage on a hero you actually run → forge it.
- Exclusive part, craft unknown → keep one copy.
- Duplicate junk with a listed sell value → vendor for the skill tree.
- Recipe needs a part you have not seen → do not burn the only copy “to see.”
Dungeon rooms are loot tables with a combat skin. Rusty Mines is an early named extra table. Train the room that drops the part you need instead of hopping tilesets.
Sixteen weapons, four-to-five-hour campaign
An optimized run is about four to five hours. You will not master sixteen swings. You will find two or three that match Barbarian / Shaman / Bowman and ignore the rest until Expeditions demand a specialist. That is healthy. Public footage also names a wooden bow, gauntlets, and the starting torch. Use those as the early ladder; do not wait for a complete namelist before forging the dagger.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I unlock the Blacksmith in Bones and Coins?
Buy item drop chance on the skill tree so materials exist. Some builds also gate the tab behind an unlock node. Do not open it before spawn count and coin value.
How many weapons are in the full game?
Sixteen, each with a unique attack animation, per official Steam launch notes. Public footage only names a few early crafts.
Should I sell items or forge them?
Forge common parts that raise damage now. Keep exclusive enemy drops. Vendor junk to fund the tree. Details in loot and economy.
Does weapon area upgrade hero swords?
Footage treats those leaves as upgrades to your torch circle. Read the tooltip. How to Play covers the HUD.
